Description
Ever since I finished the BA Poster project, I’ve been really wanting to do more with custom typography. This yearning led to the creation of this poster as a tribute to Ummet Ozcan’s song “Miami Sundown” (Which you can listen to here: [link]). I’ve been a huge fan of progressive trance for a long time now and it’s great to finally create a tribute to this genre of music.
The MIAMI area was a completely original idea. Having it lit from the bottom by the light coming from SUNDOWN happened after I got everything on screen and I think all the time spent with the burn and dodge tools in Photoshop really paid off.
The SUNDOWN section was inspired by some of the work of James White. I actually created two versions of this word. One a light blue and one yellow. I laid them on top of each other and masked part of the yellow word over the light blue word to reference a literal sunset.
It was a lot of fun working on this project and was the first project finished while working with CS6 and I have to say, the little things added to the programs in this iteration really enhance the workflow and productivity. I especially like the auto save and recovery feature of Photoshop as my computer likes to crash without notice every once in a while.
